Program
The Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre is hosting the educational and

In honor of the life of one of
North America's Greatest Land Geographers, David Thompson, the
2008 Brigade is re-enacting his historic 1808 voyage. This
journey down the North Saskatchewan River was made to announce
his discovery of Howse Pass, a crossing over the Rockies. 160
paddlers in 16 Voyageur canoes descend on Devon on May 13 on day
three of their 63 day journey that leads them to Thunder Bay,
ON. |

Historic Edmonton Week –Roughnecks, Wildcats &
Doodlebugs Learn some oil patch jargon as you tour the 23,000
square foot Museum and Science Centre! The Centre contains artifacts,
photos, scale models and colorful stories……all designed to give the
viewing public a taste of what it was like to be a part of our oil
history! The Leduc #1 well site is just south of the Centre entrance.
Working drilling rigs, a service rig, pump jacks and other current
historical oilfield equipment bring the site to life. Oilfield veterans
are frequently on site, and are eager to meet with visitors to share the
stories of the exciting early years of Canada’s oil & gas industry.
